Metatarsalgia

Metatarsalgia

Metatarsalgia is pain at the ball of the foot. Oftentimes, metatarsalgia results from the patients' foot-type. Patients with high arches, for example, are more prone to metatarsalgia. Deformities such as hammertoes may also cause retrograde pressure to the ball of the foot. Bunion deformities may also cause pain to the ball of the foot. Surgery may be indicated for severe cases.
